Short answer: eXp's U.S. Policies and Procedures do not make you wait a year to rejoin eXp itself. The one-year rule agents hear about is the "Original Sponsor Window": if you rejoin within one year of your offboard date, your original sponsor stays your sponsor, and you can only name a different sponsor after that year has passed.
Below is what eXp's current policy says, what it means for your situation, and a checklist before you try to come back. For every guide, start at the Let's Grow Hub.
Please note: This page summarizes the eXp Realty (USA) Policies and Procedures dated September 15, 2025, as filed publicly by eXp World Holdings (read the document, checked November 8, 2026). eXp can change its policies, and eXp alone decides on your rejoin and your sponsor. Confirm your situation with eXp before you make plans.
When you leave eXp, a one-year clock starts on your offboard date (the date eXp records as your exit). eXp calls that year the Original Sponsor Window. Here is what the policy says about it:
So the wait is not about whether you can rejoin. It is about who your sponsor will be when you do. If you are happy to come back under your original sponsor, the one-year window does not stop you.
| Your situation | What eXp's policy says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You left eXp less than one year ago | You can ask to rejoin. Your original sponsor stays your sponsor for that rejoin. | Contact eXp, and plan on naming your original sponsor. |
| You left eXp more than one year ago | The Original Sponsor Window has closed. | You can choose who to name as your sponsor. Pick on purpose, not in a rush. |
| You left owing eXp money | eXp may offer a one-time option to rejoin after the full balance is paid, up front or under a written plan of no more than 60 days. If it happens again, eXp can bar you from rejoining. | Settle the balance with eXp before you plan your return. |
| You are at eXp now and unhappy with your sponsor | Sponsor changes are allowed only for listed errors or misconduct, generally within 30 business days of your onboard date. | Talk to eXp. Do not leave just to switch sponsors. |
| Your whole independent brokerage is moving to eXp, and you were at eXp within the past year | eXp lets you pick a new sponsor under the joining team. | Confirm the details with eXp during the move. |
| Your first join never finished | The rules above are tied to an onboard date and an offboard date. | Ask eXp whether you were ever onboarded, and get the dates in writing. |
Your sponsor is the person you name as having most influenced you to join eXp. You pick them when you sign your agreement, and eXp treats that choice as permanent except in a few listed cases:
A messy first join is common, and it is nobody's fault for asking questions. But no sponsor group, including Let's Grow Movement, can override eXp's sponsor rules for you. If you are at eXp today, we will not ask you to leave so you can rejoin under us. eXp prohibits agents from encouraging that, and it is your decision alone.
Remember too: your sponsor does not change your split, cap, or fees. Those are the same for every eXp agent. What a sponsor changes is the support and training you get. See what your eXp sponsor should do every week.
Whatever your timeline, keep serving your clients at your current brokerage. Leaving one brokerage before your next one is confirmed puts your listings and pending deals at risk. If you are weighing a move in general, read how to switch real estate brokerages and should I join eXp Realty?

Not to rejoin eXp itself. eXp's U.S. Policies and Procedures do not set a general waiting period to come back. The one-year rule is about your sponsor: if you rejoin within one year of your offboard date, your original sponsor stays your sponsor. You can only name a different sponsor after that year has passed.
Many agents can. You sign a new agreement with eXp, and eXp decides whether to approve it. If you left owing eXp money, eXp may offer a one-time option to rejoin only after the full balance is paid, either up front or under a written repayment plan of no more than 60 days. Confirm your situation with eXp before you plan a date.
It is the one-year period that starts on the day you leave eXp (your offboard date). If you rejoin during that year, your original sponsor continues in the same role. After the year ends, you can choose who to name as your sponsor when you rejoin.
Only after the one-year Original Sponsor Window has closed. If you come back before the year is up, eXp's policy says you must name your original sponsor. One exception in the policy: if an independent brokerage moves to eXp and you were at eXp within the past year, eXp lets you pick a new sponsor under the joining team.
Only in limited cases eXp lists, such as clerical or system errors, the wrong sponsor being entered, or misleading sign-ups. Requests generally have to go to eXp at [email protected] within 30 business days of your onboard date. Not liking your sponsor is not on the list.
That is your decision alone, and we will not encourage it. eXp prohibits agents from encouraging anyone to leave eXp so they can rejoin under a new sponsor after the window closes. If you are unhappy at eXp today, talk to eXp first, and remember that your sponsor does not change your split, cap, or fees.
There are no back payments for the time you were gone. eXp's policy says a vested agent who comes back under their original sponsor may, at eXp's sole discretion, be restored to their original revenue share position, with payments only from the new onboard date forward. Ask eXp how this applies to you.
Yes. The Monday Power Up is free live training at 10 AM PT on Zoom at letsgrowzoom.com, and you can book a free discovery call with Leo Robles there too. Attending training does not make Let's Grow Movement your eXp sponsor, and it does not change eXp's sponsor rules for you.
eXp rules on this page come from the eXp Realty (USA) Policies and Procedures, version dated September 15, 2025, filed publicly by eXp World Holdings with the SEC (source; checked November 8, 2026): the Original Sponsor Window, sponsor change requests, the ban on encouraging agents to leave and rejoin under a new sponsor, revenue share on re-affiliation, and rejoining with amounts owed. Let's Grow Movement details (no fee to join; Monday Power Up at 10 AM PT) are from Leo Robles. Leo Robles's Google Business Profile reviews were collected Oct 24, 2026. This page is general information, not legal advice, and not a promise of a rejoin date, leads, or income. eXp alone decides on rejoins and sponsorship; confirm your situation with eXp.
