Short answer: Most real estate agents only need ChatGPT Plus ($20 a month in the US), which handles listing descriptions, follow-up texts and emails, social posts, market summaries and image work. Pro ($100, $200 or $500 a month) is for heavy daily users who hit Plus limits every week, so start on Plus and upgrade only when you keep running into limits.
What matters more than the plan is having proven prompts and a simple daily workflow. Below: every ChatGPT plan in plain words, why your plan menu may look different from someone else's, a simple rule for when to upgrade, five tasks to test in week one, and the checks to run before anything goes out. Prices are as of Oct 28, 2026; check OpenAI's pricing page for current prices. For every guide, start at the Let's Grow Hub.
OpenAI offers Free, Go, Plus and Pro for individuals, and Business for teams. Here is what each one means for an agent's day:
| Plan | US price (as of Oct 28, 2026) | What it means for an agent |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Good for trying ChatGPT. Unlimited everyday text chats, but uploads, images, voice and research are limited. |
| Go | Low-cost plan; see OpenAI's pricing page for the current price | More messages, uploads and images than Free, plus a lighter thinking mode, but not the advanced reasoning models in Plus. OpenAI says this plan may include ads. |
| Plus | $20 a month, billed monthly | The best fit for most agents. Advanced reasoning, expanded uploads and image work, deep research, projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs. |
| Pro | Three tiers: $100, $200 or $500 a month, billed monthly | For heavy daily users. Much more usage, OpenAI's top Pro reasoning, maximum deep research and the most room for long documents. Pro 500 adds the fastest speed option. |
| Business (formerly Team) | Standard seat $25 per user a month, or $20 billed annually. Premium seat $125, or $100 billed annually. Minimum 2 seats. | For teams that want a shared, managed workspace with central billing and admin controls. OpenAI says it does not train on Business workspace data. |
Prices are in US dollars as listed by OpenAI on Oct 28, 2026, and may differ by country and currency. Plans and limits change often, so check OpenAI before you buy.
Plus and Pro share the same everyday tools: writing, image creation, file uploads, voice and deep research (a mode where ChatGPT searches and reads many sources, then writes a report). The difference is mostly how much you can use them and how hard ChatGPT can think on each request.
For listing copy, follow-up and social posts, those extra limits rarely matter. They matter for agents who run long research reports every day, feed in huge stacks of documents, or keep ChatGPT working for hours.
One agent asked Leo after a strategy call why her ChatGPT only offered Plus. OpenAI's help center explains that the plans and checkout options you see can differ by account, device and country:
| What you see | Why, per OpenAI | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only Plus shows in the iPhone app | The app shows the plans and checkout options available to your account, and Apple manages App Store purchases. | Sign in to the same account at chatgpt.com and choose Upgrade plan to see the web options. |
| A different price or currency | OpenAI offers local pricing and local-currency billing in many countries. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are charged in your local currency. | On the web, check that the right country is selected at the bottom of the pricing page. |
| You paid, but the account still says Free | You may be signed in to a different ChatGPT account than the one you paid with (for example, Sign in with Apple vs. email). | Check the account email in Settings, use Restore purchases in the app, or sign out and back in with the account you paid with. |
| A work account with no upgrade button | In ChatGPT Business, the workspace owner buys and assigns seats. | Ask your workspace owner, or keep a personal account separate. |
The quickest fix is usually the same: go to chatgpt.com in a web browser, sign in with the account you use every day, and open Upgrade plan from your profile menu.
Plus and Pro are billed monthly, so you can change plans in Settings when your needs change.
Run these on your real listings and leads. If Plus handles all five without hitting limits, you are on the right plan.
"Here are my notes on a new listing: [paste]. Write a 150-word MLS description and a 3-line open house post. Use only the facts I gave you and describe the home and the area, not the type of buyer."
"Write a 5-touch follow-up for a buyer who toured two homes last weekend and went quiet: 3 short texts and 2 emails over 14 days, friendly and helpful, each with one simple question."
"Turn this closing [paste details, with the client's OK] into 5 captions with different angles and one 30-second video script. Keep each caption under 120 words."
"Here are this month's numbers for [area] from my MLS: [paste, with date]. Explain them in plain words for sellers in under 200 words. Keep every number exactly as written."
"Write a short, warm email answering the 5 questions first-time buyers ask me most: [list]. Keep it at a 6th-grade reading level and end with an invite to call me."

Any of them can handle the five tasks above. Pick one, use it every day, and the habit will matter more than the tool. If you are with eXp Realty, also read what AI tools eXp Realty gives its agents.

Yes, for most agents. Plus covers listing descriptions, follow-up texts and emails, social posts, market summaries, file uploads and image work, and OpenAI lists it at $20 a month in the US (as of Oct 28, 2026). Upgrade only if you hit Plus limits most weeks.
Only for heavy daily users. Pro comes in three monthly tiers, $100, $200 and $500 in the US as of Oct 28, 2026, and mainly adds more usage, OpenAI's top reasoning and the most room for long research and big documents. If you are not running into Plus limits every week, Pro will not change your results much.
OpenAI says the app shows only the plans and checkout options available to your account, and the plans, prices and options can differ by account. Sign in to the same account at chatgpt.com, open Upgrade plan, and check that the right country is selected at the bottom of the pricing page. If you are in a ChatGPT Business workspace, the workspace owner manages your seat.
Both give you the same everyday tools for writing, images, files and research. Pro adds much higher usage, OpenAI's Pro reasoning, longer working sessions and room to read far more text at once. Pro 200 includes more usage than Pro 100, and Pro 500 includes the most.
Consider Business when two or more people need a shared, managed workspace with central billing and admin controls. OpenAI says it does not train on Business workspace data, and a workspace needs at least two seats. Solo agents usually start with Plus.
